This Small Charity Week (22–29 June), S.H.E. UK is proud to be part of a national celebration of the vital role small charities play in communities across the UK.
This year’s campaign, Small charities. Big impact., shines a light on the difference small charities make every day, supporting people, strengthening communities and creating change where it matters most.
In Nottinghamshire, small charities play a vital role in transforming lives. At S.H.E. UK, we are dedicated to empowering adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) and recent sexual violence rebuild their lives with confidence. Alongside our direct support, we are passionate about community education, working actively to raise awareness around the realities of CSA and sexual violence. Based in Mansfield we offer a range of specialist services – both face to face support and online to residents of our county.
As part of Small Charity Week, S.H.E. UK are shining a light on this campaign, helping to raise awareness of the impact of small charities and the communities they serve. We stand proudly, shoulder to shoulder with other charities in our locality who are making a big impact every single day.
Small charities are where change really happens. They are rooted in their communities, responding quickly to local needs and providing support that fits real people and real places.
At a time when many communities are facing increasing pressure, their role has never been more important.
Lisa Lenton, CEO at S.H.E. UK, said:
“Small charities are part of the fabric of our communities. Every day we see the difference that local, trusted support can make to people’s lives. Small Charity Week is a chance to recognise that impact and to make sure the voices of small charities, and the communities we support, are seen and heard.”
A spokesperson for Small Charity Week said:
“Small charities may be small in size, but they are BIG in impact.
They are creating change in communities every day, often quietly and without recognition. Small Charity Week is a moment to celebrate that impact and to stand behind the organisations making it happen.”
Small Charity Week is a moment to recognise and back the work of small charities across the UK.
Because when small charities thrive, communities thrive. And when communities thrive, society is stronger.
