Sharing Knowledge & Raising Awareness with Local Students

S.H.E. UK is pleased to share that two local education providers have invited us to contribute to their upcoming programmes in 2026. These opportunities allow us to raise awareness, share specialist knowledge and ensure that future professionals understand the complex needs of survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Nottingham Trent University recently contacted us to ask whether we would be willing to deliver talks to their students. Over the last few weeks, our operations manager (and lead therapist), Rachael Cumberland, has delivered two out of three planned sessions to students who are undertaking social science and full-time health professions courses – people training to be paramedics, nurses, physiotherapists and radiographers. These sessions introduced students to the realities faced by survivors, the therapeutic approaches we use and the importance of trauma informed support.

The prevalence of sexual abuse is far greater than the general public realises, and it is so important that health professionals of the future understand how widespread it is, how it affects physical and mental health and how it shapes a patient’s relationship with healthcare- and how taking a trauma informed  approach is paramount,

We have also been approached by North Notts College, who have invited us to take part in their health and wellbeing day later this year. Rachael will again be representing S.H.E. UK. We will share information about the services we provide and explain how our therapy supports people who have experienced childhood sexual abuse.

We are grateful for both of these invitations and we welcome the chance to support the development of students who may go on to work in social care, health, education or community services. Sharing our expertise is an important part of our mission and we look forward to continuing these valuable partnerships.
